US delegation appreciates uplift in Karachi

A five-member United States (US) Senate delegation, which is currently visiting Pakistan,

called on Karachi Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Led by Senator Thomas Carper, the delegation included Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Senator Mark Udall, Senator Kay Hagen and Senator Mark Begich.

United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Anne W. Patterson, was also present during the meeting.

The delegation discussed matters of mutual interest, and appreciated Kamal’s efforts for “outoutstanding development work in Karachi in a short period.”

They said that Karachi had made great progress in just a few years and citizens were receiving basic facilities. This, they said, was “a good omen.”

The members of the delegation also said that with improved infrastructure and rapid progress in many sectors.

Karachi had quickly emerged as an important city in the region.

The process of rebuilding and development should continue, they maintained.

Future planning and development projects for Karachi also came under discussion during the meeting.

City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal said that the rapid development process in Karachi had been initiated with the aim to strengthen Pakistan because the city is considered the backbone of the national economy.
